The hinge.... VERY durable nylon strapping material. It is thick. I cant imagine this tearing or unraveling. The best I've seen. Better than some of my suitcases. It also reflects light and doesn't look industrial. If you are using as a purse it is not unattractive.
Unlike some of these types of cases, the top and bottom do not slide over each other or over the zipper. No wonky moving around when it's not completely full. The zipper is sewn really close. Again, great quality. The inside is roomier than I expected. The webbed sides stop things from falling out. That's assuming you want to use the space other than the pouches on the sides. If you are only going to use the side pouches, or you want to be able to open it all the way like a suitcase, you can easily cut out the webbed sides. They are relatively thin Acrylic type fabric.
The elastic at the tops of the net pouches on the sides is very tight. My experience with other brands has been the opposite. They were too loose and if you dropped the case or moved it around too much, everything in the side pouches fell out. Not with this one. Nice and tight, but the netting is loose enough to expand if you are putting something fat in it.
Which brings us to the reason I bought it. Diabetic supplies. Specifically, my kit to test my blood glucose. My meter fits very well in the net pouch and does not move at all, even if I throw it on the floor. Yep, had to test it. My test strip container fits right next to it. Now.... I took a picture with my meter horizontal, in case you prefer it that way, but if your meter is any longer than mine, it will not fit that way. Mine is snug if I try to cover it completely with the netting, although I prefer it sticking out part way for the ease of grabbing it.
On the other side, I have shown my lancing device and 50 lancets. They fit very nicely and you could fit another 20 without it being uncomfortably full. Plenty for a 2 month summer trip if you were so inclined. And then we have the middle area if you choose to use it. I took a picture of it with my LARGE size Burberry wallet in it. This is bigger than the average trifold that most men use. It is also full to the gills because I keep 15 credit cards and ID's in it. That's about the limit for the case to close, but there would also be room for a small pill bottle to the side or a tube of lipstick or mascara.
It is so hard to tell the size of things in pictures, so I included 3 pictures that show size. One with my hand in a pouch, One with my hand on the outside, which makes it look extremely small, and I have small hands. Then I added another with my old Samsung S7 box. It's bigger than the box, and the phone is smaller than the box. I now Have an S21 and it fits with plenty of room left over. Some people might want to use the middle space for bandages, alcohol pads and other first aid stuff, You could fit quite a lot. I can fit my phone charger and 2 portable hard drives.
Conclusion: Very good quality case that looks nice and is adaptable for many uses. Small enough to carry around easily and/or look cute, but large enough on the inside to carry quite a lot of stuff. I am giving it 5 stars because it is BY FAR the best one I've purchased. (This is the 7th I've tried) My search has ended and I will likely buy a couple more for friends and at least one more for myself for small electronic equipment and cords when I travel. I can fit my phone charger and 2 portable hard drives.
